Dr. Kate Drury obtained her doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Concordia University in 2015, and is a licensed psychologist with the Ordre des Psychologues du Québec. Dr. Drury works with couples and individuals, helping clients identify sources of distress in their lives and build a framework for change. Her style is compassionate and supportive, and her collaborative approach empowers clients through the challenging process of making changes. Dr. Drury works with clients primarily in English.
Dr. Drury takes a holistic approach to individual therapy, and strives to understand her clients’ difficulties within their unique social, developmental, cultural and historical context. She strongly believes in the importance of emotional well-being and provides her clients the opportunity to examine, understand and integrate their emotions into a balanced sense of self. Dr. Drury uses a combination of cognitive-behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, and mindfulness. She works with clients with a variety of issues, including depression, anxiety, personality disorders, OCD, and sexual difficulties.
Dr. Drury’s work with couples draws primarily on emotion-focused therapy and behavioural techniques. She has trained at the Sex and Couple Therapy Service at the Allen Memorial Institute, working with couples with difficulties with communication, trust, emotional intimacy, sex, and infidelity. Her couples therapy is grounded in attachment theory and research.
Dr. Drury is a certified yoga teacher and believes strongly in the mind-body connection. As such, she often works with her clients to integrate a physical practice into treatment, such as walking or doing yoga.
