Last week, the MindSpace Clinic had the pleasure of running a professional mindfulness training for staff at a new private addictions treatment centre opening in Montreal. For two days, MindSpace Director Joe Flanders and Assistant Director Sarah Roberts accompanied staff at 360°dtx through a series of mindfulness exercises and meditations designed to equip the addictions centre team with the tools for remaining calm and present in a challenging work environment, and the knowledge and skills for passing on mindfulness to the addictions centre’s clientele.
What a great experience! There was a wide range of experience with mindfulness among the multidisciplinary team at 360°dtx, from no prior exposure to mindfulness to comprehensive familiarity with mindfulness concepts and exercises. The heterogeneity in the group, as well as the 360°dtx team’s openness, curiosity, and enthusiasm, created a lively and rich teaching and learning environment. It was a pleasure for the MindSpace Clinic team to share expertise in mindfulness, and to help fellow professionals pass on the mindfulness torch.
360°dtx fills a void in available services, offering effective, evidence-based interventions for substance addictions, behavioural addictions, and comorbid psychiatric disorders. In addition to mindfulness-based stress reduction, the centre’s team of professionals will offer structured relapse prevention (SRP), cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), and dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT). All in a beautiful new residential facility with a great view of Mont Royal!
Congratulations, 360°dtx, on your exciting new venture!
